Money Judgment Enforcement in Romford: Full Payment Secured on the First Morning Visit

The Situation

A creditor holding a High Court writ against an individual debtor needed the judgment enforced after the debt had gone unpaid. The debtor had reportedly made offers of part payment that the creditor was unwilling to accept, and the matter had stalled without full settlement.

After searching for a High Court enforcement agent to enforce the money judgment, the creditor’s matter was taken forward by Strikes High Court Enforcement under the authority of our Authorised High Court Enforcement Officer. The enforcement was to be carried out at the debtor’s residential address in Romford, in the London Borough of Havering.

Our Approach

Our enforcement agents attended the debtor’s address in the early morning, shortly before 7:00am, to enforce the writ. The property was clearly identified, and after the door was answered our agent identified himself as a High Court Enforcement Agent and explained both the existence of the High Court writ and his authority to enforce it.

The debtor stated that he did not have the funds available to satisfy the writ and initially refused to make payment, indicating he wished to deal with the matter another time. With the door left open, our team made peaceful entry and set out the stages of enforcement available under the statutory process. When the debtor continued to refuse and attempted to leave, enforcement progressed to the next stage.

Acting on our attending agent’s instruction, the team moved to take control of a vehicle outside the property. When evidence was produced confirming the vehicle belonged to a third party rather than the debtor, our agent immediately ceased action against it – controlled goods must belong to the debtor, and our team applied that principle without hesitation. The measured, correct handling of that point kept the enforcement sound while maintaining pressure toward settlement.

Outcome

Shortly afterwards, a family member attended the property and spoke with the debtor. Following that conversation, payment was made and the matter was resolved in full on the same visit, with no further enforcement action required. What had stalled as an unpaid judgment was cleared on the first attendance.

The recovery was carried out under the authority of Andrew McDermott (Authorised High Court Enforcement Officer), with the matter overseen by Chris Bane (Founder and Managing Director), ensuring the writ was enforced correctly, proportionately, and to a full recovery.
